Sachin Tendulkar as Air Force Group Captain: Air Chief Marshal says Master Blaster a role model

Sachin Tendulkar has been welcomed to the Indian Air Force with the rank of Honorary Group Captain on Friday. On the occasion, the master blaster has expressed his desire to fly a Sukhoi-30MKI, the most prominent fighter jet with the Air Force. He revealed his wish after being enquired which fighter jet he would like to fly. Earlier in 2008, the Territorial Army had conferred former cricketer Kapil Dev with an honorary Lt. Colonel title.
Meanwhile, Air Chief Marshal PV Naik admitted himself to be great fan of Tendulkar and claimed it was a delightful moment for the Air Force to have him among its ranks. He also added Sachin would be able realize his dream of flying a Sukhoi, provided he had the time to spare for training.
The Chief of the Air Staff also explained the reasons behind inducting the batting legend into the Air Force. He said that Sachin’s dedication and devotion towards his profession has served in upholding the pride of the nation. His humilty and family values have added to his image a wonderful human being. The Chief opined that these qualities too were essential within the Air Force to serve the nation to perfection.
